The goal of our fundraising events is always two-fold: to raise funds in support of social projects in Argentina, and to offer everyone in The Netherlands an opportunity to enjoy Argentinian rich culture, mainly through gastronomic and artistic events. This event is no exception, and we are delighted to offer a face-to-face event again!
On May 21st, on the eve of Argentina’s National Day, we invite you to learn and help others at the same time, by joining our “Fileteado porteño” workshop, which will be offered by Alfredo Genovese and hosted by the Embassy of Argentina located in The Hague.
“Fileteado porteño” is a traditional painting technique used for ornamental design that combines brilliant colors with specific lettering styles, declared by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2015. It can be seen widely in Buenos Aires on commercial displays, vehicles (including public transport), magazine stands, products, and on key landmarks, such as the most famous corner in Buenos Aires, the “Caminito a la Boca” (one of Alfredo’s artworks).
Alfredo Genovese, is a well-known fileteador and visual artist from Argentina, awarded “Outstanding Presence in Culture” by the Buenos Aires City Council in 2012. Thanks to his trajectory and the quality of his work, he has become a national and international reference in the field. He is committed to sharing his art by teaching others, through the publication of books and his online and face-to-face workshop offering.
During the full-day workshop you will learn theory about this technique and practice it afterwards. All materials are included, and you will receive a certificate at the end of the workshop. The cost of the ticket includes a typical Argentinian lunch, as well as coffee, tea, or mate and Argentine pastries in the morning and in the afternoon.
Register via Eventbrite, limited space available.
